Great STK600 start for Romain Lanusse
Romain Lanusse (Yamaha MRS Racing France) is currently out in front in the European Superstock 600 Championship standings, thanks to a second place at the Assen opening round and a well-deserved win, his first-ever in this category, in round 2 at Monza. The young Frenchman from Aix-en-Provence, in his second season with the team run by Adrien Morillas (a former World Superbike rider from 1988 to 1995), is not surprised to find himself at the top after just two rounds.

"Yes, this is only my second season but my goal for this year was to be the leader of the championship. I feel good in this position and I want to stay there!" declared Lanusse. "I wasn't expecting to win with 6 seconds advantage to the second place rider on a circuit like Monza, but my coach and team manager Adrien Morillas told me to try and go it alone. I didn't believe him because for me it was very difficult with 3 long straights on this track, but in the end he was right."

Despite the excellent results obtained in the first two rounds of the season, ‘Romax' is sure it'll be a hard fight for the title, seeing as the series is very competitive this year. The next round at Misano from 9-11 June will again see the numerous platoon of Italian riders all raring to go at their home circuit.

"The level of the championship is high and I think it's a good school for Supersport, just look at Florian Marino, or even Superstock 1000," continued the Frenchman. "Misano is completely different of course, I like this circuit but Misano is a race in Italy and the Italian riders are very fast over there ... My aim is the victory but if it's too dangerous I'll settle for the podium!"
