Barrier on top in first qualifying

Sylvain Barrier (BMW Motorrad GoldBet) set the fastest time in the FIM Superstock 1000 Cup first qualifying session. The Reigning Champion and current leader in the points lapped the 5,902 m of the Silverstone Circuit in 2'09.110 and, despite a technical problem with ten minutes left in the session, he ended up first, ahead of last year's race winner Eddi La Marra (Barni Racing Ducati) and a surprising Matthieu Lussiana (Team ASPI Kawasaki).

2007 STK1000 Champion Niccolò Canepa (Barni Racing Ducati) finished fifth with a 0.999 seconds gap from the top, behind Frenchman Jeremy Guarnoni (MRS Kawasaki) and followed by Lorenzo Savadori (Team Pedercini Kawasaki) and podium finisher at Imola Ondrej Jezek (SK Energy - Fany Gastro Ducati).
