Toth and PTR Honda join forces

TEAM TOTH and PTR Honda will join forces in 2013 with experienced racer Imre Toth heading a two-man team in the World Supersport Championship. Imre, a former 125cc and 250cc GP racer, is going into his fourth year in World Supersport and scored his best result to date in 2012 when he took an impressive fourth place at Monza in difficult conditions.

The 27-year-old from Hungary has big ambitions for 2013 and believes the PTR Honda will help him become a regular points scorer and challenger in the top 10 of the series. He has prior experience of racing a PTR customer bike so is expected to get off to a quick start when testing starts in early 2013.

A second Toth PTR Honda rider will be announced shortly. The Toth PTR Honda team will operate out of the same garage as the PTR Honda team that has already announced Luca Marconi as its first rider.

Imre Toth: "I raced against the PTR Honda bikes in 2012 and it was clear they were very good in all situations, they were the class of the field. To be joining this team and using the best machinery in 2013 is a boost for me and I am excited about what results we can achieve together. I am focussed on being as fit and ready to race as possible, I have never been more motivated to race, this is a great opportunity."

Simon Buckmaster, Toth PTR Honda Team Manager: "This is a new collaboration for PTR and Toth, two established names in World Supersport. Together we will be strong and competitive. Having worked with Toth as a PTR customer team before, this is a positive step forward and we are delighted to welcome Imre into the core of our team. He improved throughout through 2012 and together we want to maximise that and turn it into consistent good results in 2013. His Toth PTR Honda team mate will be announced soon."
