Sofuoglu speaks about his championship year in WSS
For Sofuoglu, his winning feat after a year out in Moto2 was remarkable, and he made an attempt to rank each of his championship wins. "This is my third title but the first time with Kawasaki," he stated. "In 2007 it was easier because with three races to go I won the title. The hardest time was 2010 because Eugene was pushing me and Lascorz was really fast. I though this year would be easy but I had a really big problem with my knee, a disqualification and lost some points because of some penalties, so that made it really difficult. I was thinking that maybe I could not win the title because of all the bad luck coming one after the other. But in the last two or three races I could have easily won the race. I am riding the best bike in the best team and when I wanted to pass someone I could do it easily."
The 2012 season has been a real Kawasaki and Honda battle, but for Sofuoglu, even in his first year on the Kawasaki machine, it was the right move for him.
"I think in some points the Kawasaki is the best," he said. "There is some difficult points, like on bumpy tracks we have a hard time. But in the end in the race it is a different story. I think in the race Kawasaki riders have much more advantage because the engine is better and the electronics, especially in the braking is very good. My bike makes my job really easy."
