Torres claims maiden WorldSSP300 pole at Misano as Garcia and Buis miss front row finish
Antonio Torres led Vannucci and Benat Fernandez on the session to make it three different manufacturers in the top three positions
Friday afternoon featured the final event of the Pirelli Emilia-Romagna Round’s opening day, the FIM Supersport 300 World Championship’s Tissot Superpole session. Antonio Torres (Team ProDina XCI) closed the session with the fastest lap to claim his first career WorldSSP300 pole. Matteo Vannucci (PATA AG Motorsport Italia WorldSSP300) and Benat Fernandez (Team #109 Retro Traffic Kove) were second and third fastest, respectively, and held onto their front row positions after setting them in the first half of the running.

Spain’s Antonio Torres and his Kawasaki Ninja 400 were the fastest on the session, topping the timesheet to sit pole thanks to his 1’49.152s lap. His time beat out Vannucci’s 1’49.297s time by 0.145s, relegating the Italian to P2. Spanish rookie Fernandez earned a front row spot as he zipped around the track with a 1’49.373s lap, beating out David Salvador (Team ProDina XCI) by just over 0.05s
SECOND ROW FOR SALVADOR: The Spanish rider will take on Race 1 from P4
David Salvador (Team ProDina XCI) and his 1’49.429s lap finished fourth fastest on the day, the second-year WorldSSP300 rider still chasing his first pole position. Just a tenth of a second behind Salvador, Marco Gaggi (Team BrCorse) finished P5 with a 1’49.540s lap. Julio Garcia (Prodina Kawasaki Italka Racing) rounded out the second row with his 1’49.981s lap, the fourth-year Spanish rider to start Race 2 from P6.
BUIS P7: The two-time World Champion will lead the third row on Saturday
Just a hundredth of a second behind Garcia, Buis and his 1’49.991s time were shuffled onto the third row of the grid. The #6 was the last rider to crack the 1’49s mark on the session. Juan Risueno (MS Racing) followed him on the timesheet, an additional hundredth of a second behind Buis with a time of 1’50.001s. Elia Bartolini (Team BrCorse) was next up, with a time of 1’40.068, securing the last position in the third row. He was followed by Carter Thompson (MTM Kawasaki) and his 1’50.099, which rounded out the top 10.
