Scorching summer sun offers Rimini WorldSBK treat

Heading into the ninth round of the 2018 MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship season, the scorching Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli hosted a thrilling weekend of on track action.

Saturday’s race one welcomed a stunning performance from Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK), as the British rider was able to secure a dominating victory in Ducati’s home circuit. Whilst Eugene Laverty (Milwaukee Aprilia) continued on with his podium finishing pace to take a third position.

Race two saw the typical battle out on track with the reversed grid coming into play once again. Sensational battles were seen in the opening laps, as Michael van der Mark (Pata Yamaha Official WorldSBK Team) led the majority of the race, before being pipped to the line by Rea.

Italy were able to cheer on a home hero as Federico Caricasulo (GRT Yamaha Official WorldSSP Team) took the win in front of his fans. Whilst in WorldSSP300, there was home delight for Manuel Bastianelli (PRODINA IRCOS Team) as he stood on the top step, and Markus Reiterberger (alpha Racing-Van Zon-BMW) continued to dominate in the STK1000 Championship, taking another win to cement his title chase.
