Are the Dutch fans treated to a home hero?

Grandstands were packed around TT Circuit Assen for the Dutch WorldSBK round as fans flocked to see home hero Michael van der Mark (Pata Yamaha Official WorldSBK Team), as he was on the hunt for a victory. Temperatures soared to record heights and the sun shone down on SBK®.

Race One welcomed a stunning display from Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team), as van der Mark battled his way through the pack after a tough qualifying session and secured a podium in front of his adoring fans. Race Two threw up more surprises with the reversed grid and even more action. It was Tom Sykes (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK) who secured an emotional return to the top, in true Sykes style. Van der Mark was able to take home glory once again, taking his second podium of the weekend.

WorldSSP offered a fourth different winner in The Netherlands, as Jules Cluzel (NRT) made up for his Thailand heartbreak by standing on the top step of the podium this weekend. German rider Luca Grunwald (Freudenberg KTM WorldSSP Team) took the win in WorldSSP300, whilst Markus Reiterberger (alpha Racing-Van Zon-BMW) secured first position in STK1000.
