Spanish rider continues to make more progress with MV Agusta

Fresh off the back of two top nine finishes in the GEICO US Round, Jordi Torres (MV Agusta Reparto Corse) is happier with his pace as he continues to makes strong steps with his new team, working well with the Italians.

Securing a best result of fifth around Imola, the Spanish rider has had a testing season so far with the MV, but he feels he made some strong steps around the fast and flowing WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. Qualifying in 11th position, he left himself with a lot of work to do and secured a top nine finish in the warm Californian conditions. But ahead of race two, the Spaniard was able to make some even bigger steps and took seventh position.

Happier with his overall pace, he explains: “We have managed to solve many of the problems we had yesterday, and the team has worked great to understand my riding style on this track. What’s important to look at is not only the top seven finish, but also the gap compared to the riders in front. On Saturday we finished about 30 seconds from the front, and on Sunday it was 15 or 16 seconds, this is what is the most important to me. We hope to take this progress to Misano, which is an important Round for us. It is the home race for the team, so we have to push a lot there and try to give the best possible show.”
