After a strong WorldSSP appearance at Lausitzring back in August, young Austrian rider Thomas Gradinger is set to ride full time in the FIM Supersport World Championship in 2018 with Nerds Racing Team, on board a Yamaha YZF-R6.

Already confirming the experienced Jules Cluzel as their first rider back in October, the team who are backed by Indian owner Vafi Kahn, are delighted to welcome the 2017 IDM Supersport Champion to their new project. Impressing around the German circuit of Lausitzring, Gradinger qualified in 17th position and crossed the line in the top nine on board the Yamaha YZF-R6. Enough to impress his new team, he now looks forward to continuing to improve his pace and impressing with the new team in 2018.

Gradinger is delighted with the news: “I am very happy and thankful to get the chance from NRT to race in WorldSSP, it was my dream since I began racing. My goal for this season is to learn as much as I can and improve every race. I can’t wait until the first race to work with my crew.”

Gary Reynders, Team Manager adds: “I am very happy I have the opportunity to give a young Austrian rider the chance to compete in a ‘FIM Supersport World Championship’. His performance in Lausitzring was impressive and we hope he can continue to develop his skills with our team.”
