Don’t miss these two classics from 2010 – Phillip Island and Magny-Cours!

Two races from one of the most competitive seasons in WorldSBK history

Biaggi, Checa, Corser, Toseland, Rea, Sykes and Guintoli. Seven past and future WorldSBK champions with twelve titles amongst them met out on track for the start of the 2010 season. Some of them of course were still champions-to-be, but the talent was already available in spades. Add a few more names in Crutchlow, Haga, Camier, Haslam and Fabrizio, and you have one of the most exciting years in the history of the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship.

Precisely these last two stole the show on the first date of the season, at Phillip Island. Starting in first and second, the Suzuki versus the Ducati, it all came down to an insanely close photo-finish. Four thousandths of a second separated the pair at the flag – but who came out in front?

The end of the year brought another tight battle with two different protagonists: Max Biaggi, who had just been crowned World Champion, and a young Cal Crutchlow, Race One winner at Magny-Cours. There was barely anything between the pair, with the winner taking the final 25 points of the season by just 0.087 seconds. Could Biaggi finish off his title with another race win, or did Crutchlow cap off his rookie (and only) WorldSBK season in perfect style?
