Frenchman happy with return to WorldSBK

Putting in a stunning stint of laps to mark his return to the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship, Loris Baz was happy with his two day test at Circuito de Jerez, but notes there are still improvements to be made.

Swinging his leg over the Althea BMW Racing Team bike for the first time this week, Baz put in over 160 laps over the two days it’s clear he is serious about his return and he was happy with the switch back to the brakes and Pirelli tyres. Putting in a race simulations over the two days, the French rider was happy to be riding at a competitive pace compared to the race at Jerez this season.

Baz explains his first  two days: "I am rather pleased with these first laps. There are, however, a lot of parameters to be used to, but it went well. I managed to get into the rhythm quickly. I am pleasantly surprised by the chassis and the front of the bike. We had to work at the electronics level, but we made good progress. I completed a lot of laps over those two days. I finished with a simulation whose pace was similar to that of the race here even a month ago. I still have some difficulties in new tyres, but I am still happy with the work done and the improvements we have made, especially with electronics. I cannot wait to get back on track in our next test to continue to find the best feeling. "
