Chili, Hodgson, Toseland and more battle it out in an American epic

The eighth round of 2003 saw Neil Hodgson make his way across the Atlantic as the undisputed championship leader, having won eleven of the opening twelve races. But by the time the US Round rolled around, the Brit’s talents had finally been matched by his rivals, setting up a thrilling weekend.

Australian wild card Mat Mladin took the Superpole at Laguna Seca ahead of a sea of Ducati machines, including Hodgson but also legends such as Troy Corser, James Toseland, Pierfrancesco Chili, Ruben Xaus or Regis Laconi. A red flag inside the opening lap only added to the drama, giving way to 28 laps of pure, world-class action.

Stacked field? Check. Evenly-matched machines? Check. An iconic track? Check. The stage was set and a classic contest was served – which you can now watch yourself, along with many other legendary races, thanks to WorldSBK VideoPass.
