Italian rider set to ride second bike in final round

With preparations well underway for the final round of the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship season, Grillini Racing Team have announced Roberto Rolfo will replace Ayton Badovini in the Acerbis Qatar Round.

Opening the 2017 season with a stunning victory around Phillip Island in the FIM Supersport World Championship, Rolfo has struggled to continue this form but his levels of motivation have remained the same, as he hopes to impress in the WorldSBK class. With 103 appearances in the top class throughout his career, the Italian is no stranger to WorldSBK. With two top seven finishes around the Losail International Circuit, it will be an interesting weekend for the Italian.

Rolfo is thrilled with the news and is looking forward to making his return: "I am very happy to finally come back to and to do so in the Superbike category! After the victory in Australia the season hasn’t been the happiest, but I never lost motivation and my goal has always been to come back to race with a good bike. I want to thank Andrea Grillini for the opportunity that he is giving, and letting me race in an important category as the Superbike is with a nice bike like the Kawasaki  ZX-10RR. My commitment will be at the top, I am looking forward to this new experience and I want to have fun! "

Andrea Grillini, Team Manager, adds: "After Jerez we were forced to replace Badovini because the injury in the race prevented him from finishing the championship with us. I am very happy to welcome Roberto Rolfo into our Team. I have known Roberto for a long time, he is a great professional as well as a rider of experience and I am sure it will be a pleasure to work with him for the next round. I wish Ayrton a quick recovery and to be able to come back fast. "

Keep up with all of the 37 year olds progress under the floodlights of Qatar, all with the WorldSBK VideoPass as action gets underway on 2nd November.
