Battling until the final corner top five put on a solid performance

Scott Deroue (MTM HS Kawasaki) took the victory at his home race at the Acerbis Dutch Round in a sensational race, as the 21 year old Dutch rider rode with a sprained ankle. The only rider to stand on the top step in the class so far following his victory around MotorLand Aragon; listen to his reaction regarding the race here, as we take you through the top five riders in the FIM Supersport 300 World Championship.

Wildcard Rider Glenn van Straalen (Vos – TKR Racing) put on a stunning display in front of his home fans onboard his Honda CBR500R, as he timed his last lap to perfection in the closing stages of the race. Coming back from 19th position on the opening laps, the 16 year old put on a ruthless performance in the highly competitive class. With the fight for the win boiling down to between five riders going through the Gert Timmer chicane, van Straalen was in with a chance of taking a podium spot and crossed the line 0.164s ahead of second position.

Italian Alfonso Coppola (SK Racing) continued his consistent start to the WorldSSP300 title race, as he now sits in third position overall after he completed the podium around TT Circuit Assen. Battling through the intense field of young, adrenaline fuelled riders Coppola led the way on the second lap. With the front riders as close as they could possibly be, he regained the lead on the penultimate lap but crossed the line bar to bar with Sanchez, unable to get the slipstream gain coming out of the final chicane.

Dramatic racing was seen from Borja Sanchez (Halcourier Racing), who was forced to drop down two positions with seven laps to go after the Spaniard exceeded track limits around the iconic circuit. Despite this set back, it didn’t slow the youngster down on board his Yamaha YZF-R3 and he fought for the victory until the final lap. He took fourth position at the line, 0.006s off a podium finish as he took the outside line out of the final chicane.

Dorren Loureiro (DS Junior Team) sits in sixth position in the WorldSSP300 championship standings following the Acerbis Dutch Round, and is only three points off third. Locked in the fight for the podium over the 12 lap race the South African was the last rider of the leading group to cross the line despite crossing the line in the lead on laps seven and eight. Showing he has the pace to fight, he will be back out to fight in Italy.

WorldSSP300 riders will be back out on track in two weeks time at the historic Imola circuit, and the field of 38 riders will try to stop Deroue’s dominance.
