Kawasaki Racing Team raring to go at Acerbis Dutch Round

Following three days of testing after the MotorLand Aragon Round, the Kawasaki Racing Team duo are keen to get racing action underway in The Netherlands. Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team) is set to reach a landmark in his career on Sunday, marking his 200th race start in the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship, and is hoping to make it count.

Feeling confident following some updates made throughout the testing in the three week break, the reigning world champion heads to TT Circuit Assen with a 50 point championship lead, but is wary of what the weather could bring to the iconic circuit .

Rea explains his feelings ahead of the Acerbis Dutch Round: “Sunday at Assen will also mark my 200th career WorldSBK race start so that, in itself, is something I'm both proud and excited about, and I’m really excited to go to Assen. Since the Motorland Aragon race we had three days testing where we've worked hard to improve the set up of the ZX-10RR, with positive results. The WorldSBK Assen weekend always falls around this time of the year and history has shown that the weather can play a part, so it's important to be fast in both the wet and the dry. It's always a great feeling riding in front of the passionate Dutch fans, who always turn out in force.”

Working through an illness which has stalled Tom Sykes’ (Kawasaki Racing Team) progress since the third round of the season at MotorLand Aragon, the British rider will be looking for positive results after a tough few weeks.

Happy with the progress made in their testing, the 31 year cannot ignore his health issues which have hindered his testing process.  However he looks to the Acerbis Dutch Round with a positive outlook and hopes to secure some solid results at The Cathedral.

“I am really looking forward to going back to Assen,” Divulges Sykes. “I will just have to see how I feel, physically, after the problems I have been having. This has distracted me a little bit but I am ready to go back to the Netherlands to race. Though I wasn’t at full capacity we definitely got some direction from the tests since the last Round, I really enjoy Assen and I think every rider does. We have some little set-up changes and developments that we tried in testing that we will be taking them to Assen.”
