STK1000 rider keeps the title fight alive

With Michael Ruben Rinaldi (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) in the position to take the European Superstock 1000 title at the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve, all Toprak Razgatlioglu (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing) had to do was finish in the points in order to keep his championship battle alive. The Turkish rider surpassed this goal as he took an accretive victory in Portugal.

Starting from fourth on the grid, Razgatlioglu didn’t waste any time and got up into the lead on the second lap of 14. With an impressive pace on board his ZX-10RR, he put in a dominant performance and was able to cross the line over two seconds ahead of his rivals. With the championship fight on the line, the 20 year old was able to respond to the pressure and produce a strong performance which now leaves him just eight points behind Rinaldi in the fight.

Speaking of the importance of securing the full 25 points, Razgatlioglu explains: “I am really happy to win again and take full points. This week there was so much work for team to do but they made a good job, so great thanks to them. The championship situation is now a lot better and all I can say is thank you to everyone involved.”
