WorldSSP300 championship blown open as the Spanish rider has podium cancelled

Spanish FIM Supersport 300 World Championship rider Mika Perez (WILSport Racedays) has been disqualified from the previous Prosecco DOC German Round, in which he secured third position following a stunning battle around the Lausitzring Circuit.

Moving Perez up to the top of the championship, he was leading the way by three points ahead of Marc Garcia (Halcourier Racing). However this disqualification will come as a blow, moving him down to fourth in the world championship standings. The penalty arose after the wheels used in Germany on his CBR500R were found to not conform with the rules set in the WorldSSP300 series.

As the championship heads into their seventh round of the season around Portimao, there is all to play for in the inaugural series fight. 27 points split the top five in the title fight, and with three rounds remaining on the calendar
