As young riders from Asia, Australia and New Zealand battle it out in the 2017 Idemitsu Asia Talent Cup and reach the halfway point of the season, there’s an exciting new date for those aspiring to follow in their tracks: July 8th, when applications open for next season.

From that day, young riders in Asia, Australia and New Zealand have the chance to apply to become part of the 2018 IATC and get themselves on the Road to MotoGP™ - with applications open until August 13st to decide the grid for another spectacular season of racing.

The 2018 Idemitsu Asia Talent Cup is the best opportunity around to begin your career as a motorcycle racer with a calendar that includes, among other events, rounds alongside the MotoGP™ and WorldSBK championships. The machine will be the proven Honda NSF250R, a pure Moto3™ bike. The level of competition is high, young riders are subjected to the demands and rigors of a professional rider, able to take advantage of coaches, all with the goal of achieving victory.

Enrolment Period
The registration period for this new campaign is open from July 8th to August 13st, 2017 and reaches an extensive audience, especially on the internet with social networks a major avenue of sharing information amongst the target audience of 12 to 20 year olds. Federations, clubs, schools, circuits and promoters are also participating in the campaign, which reaches more than 15 countries across Asia, including Australia and New Zealand.

How the selection works
The aim of the Idemitsu Asia Talent Cup is to look for new talent, there’s no specified minimum amount of competition experience required, but a certain skill level must be shown. Previous experience can include dirt-track, motocross, scooter or mini bike racing. Applicants must be born between January 1st, 1997 and December 31st, 2005.

A selection of the successful candidates who have registered between July 8th and August 13st will then be chosen to attend the Selection Event, with the list of those invited to be published on the 7th of September 2017."

The Selection Event is scheduled for the 24th and 25th of October at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia. During these two days the candidates will be interviewed and have the opportunity to demonstrate their skills and ability on track. Finally, after the selection process the initial list will be reduced further, allowing riders from the 2017 edition of the Cup to remain, and form part of the field of 22 riders for 2018.
