Italian rider put in solid stint in Portuguese test

Returning to the Red Bull Honda World Superbike Team, Davide Giugliano was present at the Official Portimao test ahead of Round 11 of the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship. Putting in over 60 laps, it’s clear the Italian is keen to improve his pace as he returns to Magny-Cours.

Riding for the team in the Prosecco DOC German Round for the team, Giugliano had a tough weekend as he narrowly missed out on scoring points on his debut aboard the CBR1000RR Fireblade SP2. Back with the team for the Pirelli French Round, he used the full day on track to work on the electronics as well as continuing to understand the machine.

With a best lap time of 1.45.577, the 27 year old explained: “It’s been a very busy day for us because, unlike in our original plans, I was obviously the only one on hand for the team for this test. I have raced here before but never with the Fireblade, so I had to spend the first part of the test getting used to riding this bike around the circuit and checking that everything was working well. We then tried several things – mostly with electronics – with some interesting results. It’s good to be back on the bike and this has definitely been a good way to get ready for Magny-Cours.”
