Dutch rider to continue hunt for WorldSSP300 title

Race winner in the debut FIM Supersport 300 World Championship season, Scott Deroue will ride for the MTM HS Kawasaki squad for 2018, as the Dutch rider looks ahead to the title battle next season with 2017’s now out of his grasp.

Getting off to a stunning start in the opening races of the inaugural championship, Deroue won the first two races of the season at MotorLand Aragon and TT Circuit Assen and in turn had a good hold of the championship lead. However the 21 year old struggled to keep a consistent pace throughout the remainder of the year in the highly competitive class. Returning to the podium around Donington Park, Deroue now sits in fourth position in the championship standings with one round remaining.

With a season’s worth of data and experience under his belt, he will now look ahead to 2018 with the same team as he hopes to hold his consistency throughout his second season. Thrilled to have re-signed with the Kawasaki team, Deroue explains: “The Kawasaki Ninja 300 is an amazing bike and the MTM Racing Team feels like a second home. Renewing my contract gives me the peace of mind I need to fully focus on racing. I’m determined to clinch nothing less than the world title next year!”

Ludo van der Veken, MTM’s Team Manager is delighted to continue working with the young rider next season: “We are incredibly happy and proud to have Deroue on board again for 2018. Despite of his young age he has a great amount of experience that continues to take our team to a higher level. Therefore we are confident that Scott can battle at the top of the championship again.”

Keep up with Deroue’s progress in the final round of the WorldSSP300 season this weekend in the Pirelli Spanish Round, with the race at 14.20 LT, all on the WorldSBK VideoPass.
