British rider happy with overall opening day pace

Opening the weekend at Madza Raceway Laguna Seca on top, Chaz Davies (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) was able to put in a stunningly consistent day, as he returns from injury at the Misano Round last time out.

Ending the day with a narrow lead of 0.011s, the British rider was able to end both sessions fastest as he continued to put in consistent laps around the circuit. With a strong record around the circuit, Davies is hoping he can build on the pace he has so far with his Panigale R, and he will hope to continue to build his fitness levels throughout the weekend.

Davies was surprised with his opening pace, and looks forward to an important day around the circuit: “My ambition was build into the weekend but things felt quite good this morning and we got off to a great start. I was happy with this morning but in the higher temperatures in the afternoon I feel like we have a bit more work to do but overall not too bad, this has been a true test, I have given my body a full test over the last few weeks and I felt pretty much as good as new but I’m just getting a bit of back ache as the day goes on, hopefully we will get a good night’s sleep and feel a bit better tomorrow.”

Watch if Davies can continue his stunning pace in America with the live Superpole sessions starting from 11:00LT (-7 GMT), before race one kicks off at 14:00LT.
