Italian stuns to take second victory of the season

In a classic FIM Supersport World Championship battle, the victory in Sunday’s Jerez race was decided by 0.065s with Federico Caricasulo (GRT Yamaha Official WorldSSP Team) taking the victory over the line, finishing on top after a stunning battle.

Starting from pole position, it was clear the Italian had a very strong pace with his YZF-R6 and was set for a strong battle in the 19 lap race. Leading the way as the lights went out, the 21 year old had a fantastic feeling with his bike and was able to put in some strong laps and was showing he was not prepared to go down without a fight. Locked in a battle with Jules Cluzel (CIA Landlord Insurance Honda), Caricasulo put in some of his trademark moves on the final lap to take the victory in the final corner.

“Yeah I am really happy,” begins the Italian. “We did a good job, a big thanks to my team because my bike was perfect all weekend. It was the perfect weekend for me – to take the pole position, fastest lap, new lap record and win, was incredible. I am now always feeling good with my bike and my team, we will improve for Qatar and we are ready for next year.”

Still preparing for an important final round, Caricasulo has one clear goal for the Qatar WorldSBK Round:  “In Qatar I want to give my best and to try to do the same as Jerez, to be ready and to be 100% charged for 2018.”
