Injury forces Italian to sit out of home round

Michael Canducci (3750 Puccetti Racing FMI) will sit out of the World Supersport race at Pirelli Riviera Di Rimini Round at Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, following a training incident  which has left the Italian declared unfit.

As the team heads into their home race, they have secured 2016 European Supersport Winner Axel Bassani as a replacement rider on board their Kawasaki ZX-6R machine. With a wealth of experience in the class, the young Italian will be a strong replacement to take on a tough weekend in San Marino.

Missing out on a fight in front of his home crowd, the Italian will now focus on preparing for his return after the summer break: "I'm really disappointed I can’t race this weekend in front of my home race, and Misano is a track which I definitely could have ran a strong race. I had a big fall when I was training and with an injury to my head, the doctors preferred to declare me unfit to race. Luckily I did not do anything serious and I will only miss one race. Now I will try to rest to get back to shape and be ready after the summer break. "

With a big job ahead of him, Bassani is keen to get started on track as he hopes to help the team to get a strong result. Securing a strong top ten finish at the circuit last season, the Italian will put up a strong fight.

Bassani explains: "I'm happy to be able to be back with Manuel this weekend and thank him for thinking of me as a good substitute for Canducci. I hope to have a good feeling in my first round tomorrow, as well as secure a good result because the team deserves it! I look forward to starting work with the team!”
