New Dorna initiative unveiled in London

Continuing to support and help to build new talent in the world of motorbike racing, Dorna revealed the latest step in their Road to MotoGP™ program, as the British Talent Team and British Talent Cup was launched in the UK.

Designed to be a perfect way for young British riders to climb the motorbike racing ladder, the Cup will provide a unique opportunity for up and coming talent. Races will take place at existing Dorna-run events such as the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship and MotoGP™ weekends; with all riders on Honda Moto3™ machines. British fans attending the WorldSBK Round at Donington Park will be treated with the chance to see the new Cup in action, whilst a proposed calendar for 2018 is yet to be announced.

Bringing the presence of the initiative to the world stage, the British Talent Team will run in the Moto3™ class for 2017. Brno Moto3™ winner John McPhee will be at the helm of the team, with the support of Jeremy McWilliams as British Talent Scout and Alberto Puig, the Cup Talent Promotion Director. Building a strong team base, the Cup certainly has potential heading into the future.

The first selection program for the Cup will take place a week before the 2017 British Grand Prix. Riders hoping to be selected will be put through their paces in order to gain their position to compete in the Cup for 2018. The application process runs from the 5th May to 18th June, and riders who will be invited to the selection process will be informed before the 21st July.
