Italian rider recovering from crash at Misano

As FIM Supersport World Championship rider Alex Baldolini (Race Department ATK#25) continued to rebuild his fitness from his broken ankle sustained in Thailand FP2, the Italian is now set for another road to recovery following a crash in FP2 last weekend at the Pirelli Riviera Di Rimini Round.

Coming down through the fast turn eight at Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, Baldolini was taken to the local hospital in Rimini where he underwent a medical assessment, which revealed he would need an operation on his left hand.

Operated on by Dr Lucidi and Dr Mustapha, the 32 year old underwent a successful operation which saw the amputation of his fourth finger following a deep cleaning and stabilization, as well as the stabilization of the exposed third finger, which had a lesion of the extensor tendon and loss of skin.

Discharged from Rimini hospital on Tuesday 20th June, Baldolini will now undergo a necessary recovery period before being revaluated following the eight week summer break for the WorldSSP class.
