Australian to race in his own WorldSSP Team

Anthony West will once again race as a wild card at his home round of Phillip Island in the hotly anticipated opening round of the FIM Supersport World Championship, under West Racing on a Yamaha YZF R6.

The experienced 35 year old is yet to announce plans for the upcoming season, however he is set to compete against the 30 WorldSSP riders at the legendary Australian circuit for the second season in a row. In 2016, West took a stunning third position in front of his home fans as he also raced with Yamaha in the class, for the season opener.

Spending the majority of his road racing career in the MotoGP™ paddock, starting out in the 125cc Championship back in 1998 he was quickly able to progress through the ranks and made his MotoGP™ debut in 2007. A regular points scorer in the class, West made the step to Moto2™ before coming over into the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship, in which he enjoyed podium success in the WorldSSP class.

The Queensland rider will be hoping to once again impress his home fans at the World Supersport series opener from 24th-26th February.
