The year was 2006 and the rider Troy Corser. The local Champion had one thing standing in between him and a piece of history: One more victory at Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit.
In the end, the Australian legend did win the first race that weekend at Phillip Island, and he did get his slice of history. Corser became the rider to have won the most races at the famous ribbon of tarmac south of Melbourne by taking his seventh victory at the track and cementing his place in the record books
