STK1000: De Boer Heads for the UK as Mahias Declared Unfit

Dutch rider set as last minute replacement for Lucas Mahias

With French Yamaha STK1000 rider Lucas Mahias, who was set to stand in for countryman Florian Marino, unable to take part in Round 7 at Donington Park, Dutch rider Danny De Boer will ride the YZF-R1M this weekend in place of the Frenchman. Mahias was declared unfit in final medical checks on Thursday in Donington after injuries sustained at Round 5 at Imola.

De Boer raced as a wildcard at Assen in 2016 and has appeared numerous times on the STK1000 grid, making him a natural choice for the Pata Yamaha Squad.

"I am really excited by this opportunity to join the Pata Yamaha Official STK1000 Team at Donington Park,” said De Boer. “We did a great job in Assen as a wildcard so I am happy that I can return to this Championship especially with the Official Factory team. The track and team are new for me so I am looking forward to leaning a lot quickly and I want to send my thanks to Yamaha."

De Boer gets on track for the first time at Donington on Friday 27th May as Free Practice gets underway in the morning.
