More Aragon Action Closes MotorLand Test

Thursday, 4 February 2016 17:32 GMT

Better weather allows teams to finally make some progress.

After a first day full of frustration for the teams hoping to take advantage of their final few test days, the weather conditions improved on the second and final day at MotorLand to allow a useful second day of running, the last on European soil before Phillip Island.

The two KRT riders of Tom Sykes and Jonathan Rea, who on the first day opted to stay in the pits, were able to get back to work on Day 2 as planned and make their final refinements, confirming their engine configuration before the action kicks off in the state of Victoria.

Also present at MotorLand were the Milwaukee BMW lineup of Josh Brookes and Karel Abraham with their BMW S1000 RR, and Pedercini pair Sylvain Barrier and Saeed Al Sulaiti on their Kawasaki ZX-10R, who braved the wind on day one but without much reward. Day 2, however, proved much better for progress with Pedercini leaving satisfied with the kilometres gained on their new Ninja and encouraged by the lap times set during a more rewarding session on track.

Also present were riders from WorldSSP and STK1000, including Ukrainian rider Ilya Mikhalchik from the DS Junior Team, Jeremy Guarnoni, Roberto Mercandelli, Christophe Ponsson and Luke Stapleford.

The European preseason is now a thing of the past; the next face off for the teams set for Phillip Island at the final test before the lights go out for Race 1 to usher in the new era of WorldSBK.
