The Milwaukee BMW team have completed two successful days of testing as they prepare for their World Superbike debut in Phillip Island.

The team got their first taste of running a World Superbike at the Circuito de Jerez collective test, with riders Josh Brookes and Karel Abraham both responding positively to their first time on track aboard their BMW S 1000 RRs.

“It’s been a positive two days,” affirmed Brookes. “I’ve adapted to the bike quickly, and I can feel that it has a lot of potential. We’ve been focusing on dialing the bike in and gathering data, and I’d say at this stage we are pretty much exactly where we want to be in terms of consistency and pace. We’ve learnt lots about the bike in a short time, and to be in the top ten at the end of the test is a good result. In Aragón there will be a new strategy and we can expect to make a significant gain in performance.”

Making the switch from MotoGP™ to the World Superbike grid, Grand Prix winner Abraham added: “It’s been a great experience for me at Jerez and I think we’ve achieved a lot. Before we got to Jerez we planned to just get laps in and learn how the bike works before going attacking the lap time. We achieved that, but now we need to work with the new data and figure out to how get the best from it because we really believe it can be quick.”

The team are making final preparations for their debut on the world stage and recently announced a 3-year deal with Gulf Oil International as their official lubricants partner, with the agreement seeing the iconic oil brand enter WorldSBK for the first time in a long history of motorsport success. The two Milwaukee BMW S1000 RRs will next test at the Motorland Aragón Circuit on the 3rd-4th February, before heading to Phillip Island in Australia for the final pre-season test. The official Milwaukee BMW unveiling and launch will then take place on Thursday 25th February at Phillip Island Grand Prix circuit, before the WorldSBK season gets underway the following day.
