South African teenager to make World Championship debut

BWG Kawasaki (Kawasaki Italy) are set to enter the inaugural FIM Supersport 300 World Championship with 16 year old Jared Schultz at the helm.

The Italian-based squad has 12 years of experience within the FIM World Superbike Championship, and the experienced team raced in the FIM Superstock 1000 cup last season with Marco Sbaiz.

Entering the new WorldSSP300 category for 2017, the team managed by Marco Lobello will hope to help Schultz improve and showcase his talent. The South African was racing in the National Super Junior Championship on a KTM 390 last season, wildcarding in the international KTM RC390 Cup at Assen and Donington Park.

“I’m very excited and nervous at the same time, explains Schultz “I think I will do well because I have some international experience and have raced on some of the tracks, I am very comfortable on the 300cc bikes. I know the competition will be tough because there are a lot of riders with more experience than me. I will know where I stand once I have tested the bike. My aim for the first race is top 10 and then take it from there.”
