According to German motorsport website Speedweek.com, reigning eni FIM Superbike World Champion Sylvain Guintoli is in talks with Yamaha regarding the 2016 season. The Frenchman, who joined the Pata Honda World Superbike Team at the start of this year, has endured a difficult season in which he is yet to finish on the podium aboard the CRB1000RR. Guintoli currently sits sixth in the championship standings, some 248 points behind leader Jonathan Rea. Should he join Yamaha next year, he is expected to be teamed up with Marco Melandri with whom he was team-mate at Aprilia in Guintoli’s title-winning season of 2014.
