English rider eager to return to racing.

Alex Lowes is delighted that the summer break will draw to a close as WorldSBK regroups in Jerez this weekend.

The Voltcom Crescent Suzuki rider is particularly pleased to return to track action, having been caught up in an incident at the start of the last race in Malaysia.

“I can’t wait to get back on my GSX-R and ride again at Jerez,” begins Lowes, who at Sepang was caught up in the first-corner incident of Race 2 involving Max Biaggi.

“I am eager to get to Spain and start building on the progress made over the last few races. We have been solid recently and I hope to keep improving for the rest of the year. I have three weekends (Jerez, Magny-Cours and Losail) to do the best I can possibly do and that is what I’m aiming for now!”

Furthermore, the British Superbike Champion of 2013 thoroughly looks forward to the fast-sweeping corners of Jerez; notably the right handers of Criville and Ferrari leading to towards the end of the 4.4-kilometre (2.7-mile) lap.

“The track at Jerez is one we get to ride a lot with all the testing that goes on there!” he continues, having tested in Spain prior to the start of the season. “I really enjoy the layout, it has some great sweeping corners and a couple of hard-braking areas. The faster corners are better for me and the Suzuki, but I will be working harder on getting in and out of the slower corners this year to make us more competitive.”

Last year at Jerez, Lowes lined up ninth on the grid. He retired from Race 1 before recovering to ninth position in Sunday afternoon’s second encounter.
