It appears as though the possibility of Marco Melandri returning to race in WorldSBK is increasing, with the Italian having completed two days of testing in Jerez this week for MV Agusta Reparto Corse. In an article produced by Italy’s La Gazzetta dello Sport, the 32-year-old appears to have been rejuvenated by the test.

“I spoke with MV Agusta President Giovanni Castiglioni and the plan was just to go to Spain and test the bike,” Melandri is quoted as saying. “However, I had a lot of fun and the bike has a lot of potential.” After praising the professionalism of the team, he added: “In World Superbike the competition is very strong. Perhaps the F4 is a bit outdated to be able to achieve any major success, but I would certainly try.”
