Hundreds apply for 2016 Shell Advance Asia Talent Cup

The application period for the 2016 edition of the Shell Advance Asia Talent Cup has come to an end - more than 500 riders now await a reply.

The Shell Advance Asia Talent Cup’s 2016 application period has come to an end, with a huge list of more than 500 candidates now eagerly waiting to hear whether they will be shortlisted for the pre-selection event, to be held at the Sepang International Circuit on 20-21 October, ahead of the 2015 Shell Malaysia Motorcycle Grand Prix.

A multitude of riders from Asia, Australia and New Zealand submitted their applications before the deadline of August 15, hoping to race in the third edition of the competition.

The Shell Advance Asia Talent Cup is a youth development competition, first launched in 2014 and acting as a feeder series to the world of motorcycle racing. The project has been expanded to include candidates from Australia and New Zealand, with young riders from both countries having applied to take part, in addition to applicants from Bangladesh, China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Maldives, Japan, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Qatar, Rep. of Korea, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey and Vietnam.

Riders who make it through the 2016 pre-selection event in October will race in the third edition of the Shell Advance Asia Talent Cup next year against the best riders from the region. Those shortlisted for the pre-selection event will be contacted and announced shortly.
