Gregorio Lavilla on Safety Commission for 2015

Rider representatives selected for this year’s panel.

In Thailand, it was revealed to the riders who had been selected to represent the WorldSBK Safety Commission for the 2015 season. The results were reigning World Champion Sylvain Guintoli plus Jonathan Rea, Chaz Davies and Randy de Puniet for the World Superbike class, while for World Supersport Roberto Rolfo was chosen.

Gregorio Lavilla, WSBK Sporting Director, explains the voting process:

“All of the riders have a right to vote. They put it down with the name of the rider they want to be represented. They voted in Australia and then in Thailand we told them who had been elected and we started working.”

Lavilla went on to explain how important a role the Safety Commission plays.

“Normally what we share with them at the track is what we feel we should improve,” Lavilla says. “Sometimes things can be done from one day to another and other times things can be planned for the following year. We also share our views and comments on the championship and the tracks we visit.

“Is a friendly meeting in which we can share ideas, both in terms of racing and testing plus rules and regulations. It is good for us to have an overall point of view from the riders to better understand in which areas we must work.”

From the next round in Aragon, WorldSBK will welcome the Superstock 1000 and Superstock 600 classes as they begin competing for the first time this season.
