A different riding style could help, says Haslam

Aprilia rider misses podium for first time this year.

Round 4 at Assen marked the first time in the 2015 eni FIM Superbike World Championship season that Leon Haslam did not finish on the podium in either of Sunday’s two races. He put this down to tyre struggles, adding that a different riding style could have helped.

“I was really disappointed,” said the Aprilia Racing Team – Red Devils rider. “From Lap 10 to Lap 15 in both races, we caught the leaders and felt really confident, but then from Lap 15 to 21 we had no front grip in either race. We completely ripped up the tyre, even though we used the hardest tyre possible in Race 2.

“Obviously it’s down to our setup and my riding style, how I was having to ride the bike, but we need to analyse this because I feel we could have challenged for a good podium. So having two fourth places is not ideal.”

Haslam heads to the next round at Imola before moving to circuits on which he feels will be stronger for the Aprilia, such as Donington Park and Portimao.
