Sofuoglu continues to dominate at WSS official test in Australia

The three time World Supersport Champion slightly improved his time from yesterday


 

Former Champion Kenan Sofuoglu (Mahi Racing Team India Kawasaki) topped the World Supersport morning session of Day 2, making it three out of three so far in the official WSS test at Phillip Island. The Kawasaki rider continues to head the rest of the field by half a second, slightly improving on his personal best time of yesterday. Pata Honda Michael van der Mark was once again second, whilst Scotsman Kev Coghlan (DMC Panavto-Yamaha) was one of the biggest improvers, lapping half a second faster than yesterday to secure third place overall this morning.


Vladimir Leonov (MV Agusta RC – Yakhnich Motorsport) continued to show promise by also improving, as did Roberto Tamburini (San Carlo Puccetti Racing) and American rookie PJ Jacobsen (Intermoto Ponyexpres Kawasaki) who claimed 5th and 6th respectively. Thai Ratthapark Wilairot (Core PTR Honda) is adapting well to life in World Supersport moving into an encouraging eight place, whilst home rider Bryan Staring (Rivamoto Honda) reached the top 10 despite a late technical problem that brought the session to an early end. Christian Gamarino (Team Go Eleven Kawasaki) and Nacho Calero (CIA Insurance Honda) crashed together at Turn 9 and were taken to the medical centre for precautionary checks.
