Michel Fabrizio to test Red Devils’ Aprilia RSV4 at Jerez

Thursday, 20 November 2014 12:32 GMT

The rider from Rome will try the new RSV4 RR on November 24-25.

After reaching a deal with former WSBK runner-up Leon Haslam, Team Red Devils Aprilia are now evaluating different options about the rider who will join the Briton for the 2015 eni FIM Superbike World Championship. The list comprises several names, including multiple World Superbike race winner Michel Fabrizio, who gave the team their maiden podium finish in the series at Phillip Island in 2013. Fabrizio and the Italian squad then parted ways in the second half of the season, with the rider replacing Jonathan Rea in the Pata Honda World Superbike Team, whilst Red Devils Team Manager Andrea Petricca welcomed onboard Toni Elias, who stayed with the team for the whole 2014 season.

Fabrizio, whose best overall championship result in the series is the third place achieved in 2009, started 2014 with Team Grillini Kawasaki but after his home round at Imola he decided to take a break in order to find a better opportunity. This chance might be the one presented to Fabrizio next Monday as he will try out the new RSV4 RR in a two-day test at Jerez with the Red Devils Roma Team. In the event of an encouraging outcome, Fabrizio would then make his World Superbike comeback in 2015. Fabrizio has so far had 217 race starts in the series, with four wins, 35 rostrum finishes and 11 fastest laps to his credit.
