The Voltcom Crescent Suzuki rider aiming high for the final part of the season.

Voltcom Crescent Suzuki’s Alex Lowes rookie WSBK season has not been an easy one so far, despite the two podium finishes scored at Assen and Donington Park. The 23 year old from Lincoln, England has had his downs as well, with some crashes and injuries that halted his performance in many occasions, starting from the one sustained in the season opener at Phillip Island during free practice.

How would you rate your WSBK rookie season so far?

“It has been hard work but I've really enjoyed the experiences so far and I have definitely learnt a lot. I would say on paper I am not happy with the results so far however everything has been new to me from the bike, team, regulations and many of the circuits, so a lot of my results have been very positive.”

Two podiums, but also few DNFs and missed chances. Do you feel you could have got better results or you are happy with what you have done so far?

“I have definitely had a few missed opportunities to get more podiums especially Laguna Seca’s race 2 and Donington and Portimao. I am pleased with the podiums I have had and also my results in relation to my team mate - who won 9 races last year and finished 2nd in the World Championship. It will be nice to get back on the podium before the end of the season.”

You are always very hard on yourself whenever happens you do not perform as good as your expectations. Has it always been part of your mentality?

“Yes I can't help that as I just want to win and sometimes I find it hard accepting that on a certain day the best results aren't possible. You learn more about yourself when things are tough and that's why this year I feel like I am improving a lot as a rider and person.”

How hard is to deal with a new bike on new tracks at the same time?

“It's hard but also very exciting and some of the tracks I have always dreamed of racing so I feel very lucky about that. I have felt a definite advantage on the tracks I have previous knowledge so I'm looking forward to 2015!”

What is your favourite track between the two you didn’t race at before this year?

“It’s close - even though at both tracks I had a bad weekend - Laguna Seca and Phillip Island are very unique and special. Both tracks are lots of fun as well, as are the ups and downs of Portimao.”

How’s your fitness condition after the crash at Laguna?

“I feel good although my body is happy to have a rest after the past few races. I’m very looking forward to some rest over the summer break and coming back 100 percent in Jerez.”

What’s still to be improved on the bike? How much have you gelled with it from 1 to 10?

“I feel like I am not riding at full confidence in myself and or with the bike. I would say maybe 7 but I know where I need to improve both in my own riding and where we need to improve the bike which is positive.”

What are your expectations for the Spanish Round at Jerez?

“I expect to have a lot of fun and get the best results possible for me at that race!”
