Ducati lead Aprilia after exciting opening day.

After three fast and furious Free Practice sessions, the top ten riders that will progress into tomorrow’s Tissot-Superpole are as follows: Chaz Davies (Ducati Superbike Team), Sylvain Guintoli (Aprilia Racing Team), Marco Melandri (Aprilia Racing Team), Tom Sykes (Kawasaki Racing Team), Alex Lowes (Voltcom Crescent Suzuki), Eugene Laverty (Voltcom Crescent Suzuki), Jonathan Rea (Pata Honda World Superbike Team), Leon Haslam (Pata Honda World Superbike Team), Davide Giugliano (Ducati Superbike Team) and Toni Elias (Red Devils Roma Aprilia).

In today’s final FP3, there were several notable improvements including a blistering lap from Ducati Superbike rider Chaz Davies who elevated himself to the top spot in the early stages where he would remain despite some fierce pressure from his rivals.

The session was initially stopped after just a few minutes after Toni Elias (Red Devils Roma Aprilia) lost the front end of his machine at the corkscrew. The Spaniard then proceeded with the help of the trackside marshals to shake the sand and gravel from his Aprilia before returning to the track for the final 22 minutes after some speedy from his team.

For the riders placed 11th to 20th on combined times they will take part in Superpole 1 with the top 2 in that session progressing to join the already seeded top ten.

11th overall after today and narrowly missing out on a top ten placing was Loris Baz (Kawasaki Racing Team), he was 0.004s ahead of the best classified EVO rider Niccolo Canepa (Althea Racing Ducati).
Leon Camier (MV Agusta Reparto Corse) continues to adapt to his new machine ending the day 18th overall.

It was also a good day for Team Hero EBR who narrowly missed out on Superpole by 0.014. Geoff May taking 22nd after an encouraging day for the all American outfit.
