The MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship visited the Cremona Circuit for a title-crowning weekend. Nicolo Bulega (Aruba.it Racing - Ducati) wrapped up the title with two rounds to spare while teammate Iker Lecuona romped to a maiden hat-trick. We’ve gathered the best stats from both Bulega’s Championship campaign and the EICMA Italian Round for you.
BULEGA’S RECORD-BREAKING YEAR…
102 – Bulega took 102 races to be crowned Champion. Only one rider – Ben Spies (2009) – has taken fewer races, with the American needing just 28 in his rookie campaign. The next best after Spies was 105 races, held by both Max Biaggi and Carlos Checa.
43 – ‘Bulegas’ extended his record-podium streak to 43 races with his P2 finishes at Cremona. The previous record was 25. Should he stand on the podium in all of the final six races, the streak would be 49 before he moves to MotoGP.
30 – Bulega recorded his 30th podium of the season in Race 2 at Cremona. The record for rostrums in a single season belongs to Jonathan Rea with 34 in 2019.
26 – The #11 remains on 26 wins after a treble of P2 finishes at Cremona. He has six races to match and beat the record for victories in a single campaign, set by Alvaro Bautista (Barni Spark Racing Team) in 2023 with 27.
25 – Between Estoril 2025 and Misano 2026, Race 2, Bulega won 25 consecutive races – an all-time streak.
10 – From Jerez 2025 to Magny-Cours 2026, Bulega claimed 10 poles in a row. This is an all-time record, beating Rea’s 8 in 2021.
2 – Bulega is the second Italian WorldSBK Champion, after Biaggi (2010, 2012). Like Bulega, Biaggi won his titles on Italian machinery; in 2010, he also won the title in Italy.
CREMONA IN NUMBERS
100 – Bulega started his 100th WorldSBK race in Cremona Race 1. Out of those 100 races, he’d recorded 46 wins and 84 podiums. With Sunday’s two rostrums included, he’s been on the podium 86 times in 102 races.
86 – Bulega has taken 86 podiums in WorldSBK. He’s one behind Aaron Slight for a place in the all-time top-ten list.
10 – Ducati have taken 10 poles in 2026. They last achieved this in 2003. Their next target is Yamaha with 11 (2009). The season record is 13 – every pole in the 1992 campaign. While they can’t hit 13, Ducati can take every pole this year if they claim it at Estoril and Jerez.
6 –Lecuona became the sixth rider in the hat-trick club after Bautista, Rea, Toprak Razgatlioglu, Danilo Petrucci (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) and Bulega.
6 – Honda were back in the top six for the first time since Jerez Race 2, 2025, thanks to Jake Dixon (Honda HRC) in Race 2 as he finished P6.
3/3 – There has been a hat-trick hero in all three rounds at Cremona: Petrucci in 2024, Bulega in 2025 and Lecuona in 2026.
2 – Lecuona claimed his second WorldSBK pole, 1449 days after his first (Catalunya, 2022). With his Cremona pole, he became the first teammate to outqualify Bulega in WorldSBK.
1 – Alberto Surra (Motocorsa Racing) took his first WorldSBK rostrum in the Tissot Superpole Race at Cremona with P3.
