The MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship returned to Donington Park for the Prosecco DOC UK Round, where they collaborated with the Two Wheels for Life charity, which focuses on supporting healthcare and transportation systems in rural African communities. The £33,000 raised nearly triples the amount earned from last season’s initiative as crowds packed into the paddock to see the spectacle.
Two auction events were hosted over Friday and Saturday, and each was a rousing success. Among other items, the charity raised £7,000 from Valentin Debise's (EASTROC ZXMOTO Factory Evan Bros Racing) helmet, and another £5,000 for his teammate Federico Caricasulo's leathers. The star of the show was the WorldSBK’s Got Talent charity concert later on however, featuring nine performances such as: Danilo Petrucci (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) and Miguel Oliveira performing a Queen tribute act, Remy Gardner (GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team) performing a guitar solo, WorldSPB’s Kas Beekmans (VLR Racing Team Suzuki) performing a Michael Jackson dance number, and the FIM Yamaha R3 BLU CRU World Cup’s Christopher Clark (Panattoni PGR Smrz Racing), who solved 10 Rubix cubes faster than an onboard lap at Donington, without looking at the cubes!
In the end, the crowd voted for their favourite performances, and, as voted by the audience in attendance, winning first place was British R3 Cup rider Greg Marshall (PATA AG Motosport Italia) with his rap performance, followed in second by the factory BMW riders’ Queen tribute duet, and taking the bronze medal was Remy Gardner and his guitar skills.
