Tom Booth-Amos (PTR Triumph Factory Racing) stood atop the podium on Saturday, claiming the first FIM Supersport World Championship race win of the Prosecco DOC UK Round. His win marks his first victory in 2026, outpacing Championship leader Albert Arenas (AS BLU CRU Racing Team), who landed his 12th career WorldSSP podium, and Jeremy Alcoba (Kawasaki WorldSSP Team), who secured both his and Kawasaki's first podium of the season.
BOOTH AMOS RECOVERS FROM PENALISED P9 START TO WIN
Oncu defended pole position and stretched his legs to a gap of nearly half a second at the outset of Lap 2. Meanwhile, Aldi Mahendra (AS BLU CRU Racing Team) chased his teammate Albert Arenas over the first two laps from P3, fighting with the #75 for P2, while Jaume Masia (Orelac Racing VerdNatura), Roberto Garcia (GMT94 Yamaha), and Tom Booth-Amos caught up behind them.
Booth-Amos was not going to be denied in his opening race at home as the #69 went from a penalised P9 start position due to riding too many slow sectors during the Tissot Superpole session. The home hero snuck by Garcia on the inside at Turn 7 of Lap 8 and, on the same lap, disposed of Masia for P4. With the best pace of the lead group, he moved past Arenas at the Old Hairpin for P3 on Lap 9 and moved into second before taking the race lead a lap later. From there, the Brit put the hammer down at home to sail away and take his first WorldSSP race win since Phillip Island last season and his second in the category. Arenas saw himself outpaced for the race win; however, he took his fifth consecutive podium and the 20 points from P2 will fuel even more growth in his Riders’ Championship campaign. Alcoba saw his season-best P4 starting position spoiled as a poor start saw him swallowed up by the pack, stabilising himself to P8 by Lap 3. Undeterred, he gritted his teeth and cut away at the margin ahead of him. Methodically pushing through the pack, he took position after position, to the point that when Masia crashed out of the race on Lap 11 from P5, he was up to P6. A late charge on Laps 14 and 15 saw him pass Mahendra, Garcia and Oncu to snag his first podium of the season.
CLOSE BUT NO CIGAR FOR GARCIA
Garcia fought well in the middle of the lead group all race, but came up short to make his podium return, finishing the race in P4. Can Oncu (Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing) looked to be the strongest rider on track in the early running, but after losing three positions on Lap 10, he couldn’t fully recover and finished Race 1 in fifth place. In P6, it was another solid day at the office for Philipp Oettl (Feel Racing WorldSSP Team), who improved from a P10 start to claim P6 from Race 1.
BAYLISS TAKES HIS FIFTH TOP TEN IN FOUR ROUNDS
Oli Bayliss (PTR Triumph Factory Racing) was riding hot on his teammate Booth-Amos’ heels in P7 in the first two laps, but he couldn’t quite keep it as tidy as his British teammate as the Aussie slid back to P10 by Lap 5. He cleaned up his riding in the latter laps, however, and improved to a P7 finish. Debise made a mistake on Lap 7, dropping from the top six to P9, but recovered one position to finish P8. The Frenchman didn’t look fully comfortable on his bike in Race 1 and will hope to return to his winning ways for Race 2. Despite leading the race early on, diminishing pace had seen Mahendra fall out of the podium fight. With three laps to go, he recovered from a big moment at Turn 1, fortunate not to see gravel, but the moment sent him down to P8, and he later lost out to Debise to finish in P9. Rounding off the top ten, Filippo Farioli (VFT Racing) took his fourth top ten from the last seven races, after not having recorded any from the season prior to Most.
