Oliveira leads fans from Sintra to Estoril as Turn 7 is named in his honour

A meet and greet, a motorcycle parade and a special tribute to Portugal’s WorldSBK star opened proceedings ahead of the Tissot Estoril Round.

Miguel Oliveira (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) took centre stage on Thursday as fans gathered for an afternoon of celebrations ahead of the penultimate round of the WorldSBK season. The Portuguese rider was joined by Iker Lecuona (Aruba.it Racing - Ducati), Xavi Vierge (Pata Maxus Yamaha), Alex Lowes (bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team), Jake Dixon (Honda HRC) and Garrett Gerloff (Kawasaki WorldSBK Team) at the Palácio Nacional de Sintra, where the six riders signed autographs, met supporters and shared their expectations for the weekend ahead.

Oliveira then climbed aboard a BMW S 1000 RR to lead a convoy of fans from Sintra through Estoril and onwards to the Circuito Estoril. The parade continued onto the track before stopping at Turn 7 for a ceremony alongside local authorities. The occasion saw the corner officially named Miguel Oliveira Corner, recognising the Portuguese rider at his home circuit and providing a memorable opening to his home round.
