Former 2017 WorldSSP champion and 2018 WorldSSP runner up Lucas Mahias is ready to take on a new challenge as he joins the Kawasaki Puccetti Racing team for 2019, inheriting the bike that once was of the most succesful rider in the class Kenan Sofuoglu.
The French rider made his break onto the European scene in 2011, entering the Spanish and German championships.
Crowned French Supersport Champion in 2014, he then took to the WorldSSP grid the following season finishing in the top 12. 2016 saw Mahias move to the EWC, as well as wildcard in STK1000, and he produced stunning performances in both. Committing to a full-time ride in 2017, the GRT Yamaha Official WorldSSP Team rider battled through injury and took the title at the final round in Qatar.
2018 saw Mahias fighting hard to defend his crown, but despite 3 wins and 6 podiums he finished second 23 points behind new champion Sandro Cortese.
Moving over to the Italian Kawasaki team, Mahias hopes to be able to achieve stunning results aboard the green machine.
