The MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship’s 2026 campaign has only just finished but attention has already turned to 2027. Just a few days after hosting the season finale, the Circuito de Jerez - Angel Nieto, Andalucia will continue hosting WorldSBK machinery on Thursday and Friday this week as a few teams stay in Spain for a two-day test, with 2027 on the agenda for everyone at the test.
Only a few teams have opted to stay in Spain following the end of the campaign. Honda HRC will be on track with Jake Dixon and Somkiat Chantra, as well as Jonathan Rea as part of the test team. It’s worth noting that Honda were the only team running Nissin brakes in 2026, while, in 2027, Brembo will be the exclusive braking systems supplier.
BMW will also be at the test. Both Miguel Oliveira (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) and test rider Michael van der Mark will take part in the two-day test for the German manufacturer, with both working with BMW’s test team. Both will look to get more mileage on the M1000RR machine ahead of 2027, which includes Brad Binder’s arrival to the team.
There are a couple of Independent Ducati riders at Jerez as well. Sam Lowes (ELF Marc VDS Racing Team) ended the year on a high with three rostrums, and he’ll hope he can carry that momentum into the test as he prepares for 2027, with a revised ruleset featuring new tyres, brakes and the re-introduction of rev limits. Joining Lowes from the Ducati family will be Lorenzo Baldassarri (Team GoEleven) as he remains with the squad heading into 2027.
