TESTING DATES: When and where are WorldSBK teams testing ahead of 2027?

Six winter tests have been organised as manufacturers, teams and riders prepare for next season

The 2026 MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship season has just concluded, but attention is already turning to next season. New rules, new brakes, new tyres and new riders all feature heading into an unpredictable campaign. With testing important as teams and riders adapt to different surroundings and scenarios, make sure you are aware of when tests take place across the end of 2026 and start of 2027.

JEREZ IN OCTOBER AND NOVEMBER

The 2027 season effectively kicks off this week. On Thursday, 22nd and Friday, 23rd October, a few teams will test at Jerez although it’s smaller than the usual post-round test. Honda and BMW are on track from the factory teams, with Marc VDS Ducati and Team GoEleven also staying in Spain. Next month, across Wednesday, 25th and Thursday, 26th November, a few teams will be at Jerez again as they look to gain mileage ahead of next year.

FIRST GLIMPSE OF MOTOGP RIDERS COMING ACROSS

There is also a test in Valencia on Wednesday, 9th December and Thursday, 10th December. It could be the first chance to see MotoGP riders who are making the switch in WorldSBK action, with Jack Miller, Franco Morbidelli and Brad Binder all looking to jump on their respective new bikes as soon as possible. With Valencia also returning to the WorldSBK calendar for the first time since 2010 in next year, expect plenty of teams to test there.

THREE JANUARY TESTS

The traditional tests in January will also take place, with three instead of the usual two outings. On Wednesday, 20th January and Thursday, 21st January, Jerez once again welcomes WorldSBK for a two-day test. The following week, there are two tests at two different venues. On Monday, 25th and Tuesday, 26th, Valencia will host another test as teams and riders prepare to tackle the circuit in April. Later that week, on Thursday, 28th and Friday, 29th, Portimao is the venue for a further two-day test. With test days limited, expect teams and manufacturers to have differing testing plans across these tests.

OFF TO PHILLIP ISLAND

After the two tests in the final week of January, everyone gets set for the long haul to Phillip Island. The Australian venue hosts the season opener from the 19th-21st February. As is tradition, there is a two-day Official Test before the round gets underway on the Monday and Tuesday preceding the round.
