Alcoba signs with defending Champion AS BLU CRU Racing Team for 2027

The #52 has put pen to paper to step into Yamaha blue and race with the defending Champion team in 2027

After a meteoric end to the 2026 FIM Supersport World Championship season, Jeremy Alcoba has earned a seat for 2027 with the AS BLU CRU Racing Team. The Spanish rider struggled through a sophomore slump in the first half of his campaign, but he struck gold at Cremona and rode that wave home, finishing on the podium in the final six races, including four victories, and scoring more points than any other rider over the final stretch.

Alcoba announced himself to the motorcycling world with a title-winning campaign in what is now known as the Moto3 Junior World Championship in 2019. He competed for two seasons in Moto3, then another three seasons in Moto2, before joining the paddock in 2025. He found his footing late in the 2025 campaign, landing his maiden podium at Estoril in the penultimate round before returning to the rostrum in Race 1 of the season finale at Jerez.

The results raised his profile and left fans wondering how high he would climb in 2026. There were growing pains early, however, as he didn’t manage a finish better than P8 until Round 4 at Balaton Park, and didn’t finish on the rostrum until Round 8 at Donington Park. Something clicked for Alcoba, however, and just after the announcement that he would not be continuing with the team, which would be bringing in Jaume Masia for 2027, he laid down a stunning performance at Cremona. Pole position and back-to-back wins spelled his best-ever WorldSSP performance in a round. A win and a podium from each of the subsequent final rounds sent him soaring up the Championship standings from P8 prior to Cremona to third as the sun set on Jerez.

"IF YOU WANT TO FIGHT FOR THE TITLE, YOU NEED THE BEST TEAM, AND I BELIEVE THAT IS WHAT I AM DOING HERE”

Alcoba joins the AS BLU CRU Racing Team after perhaps their best season ever; they are the defending Teams’ Champion after propelling Albert Arenas to a Riders’ Championship in his rookie WorldSSP season, as well as a solid campaign from sophomore teammate Aldi Mahendra. Alcoba has ridden Yamaha blue in Moto2 with the Yamaha VR46 Master Camp Team, but he'll get his first chance to feel the Yamaha R9 in an important winter testing window.

On the announcement, Alcoba’s enthusiasm is palpable; he said: “I am very excited to join Yamaha for 2027 after what really has been two difficult seasons. I expected more joining WorldSSP and feel that only in the last few rounds have I been able to show what I am capable of! To get the chance to ride the bike that has won the Championship for the last two seasons is a huge opportunity for me. If you want to fight for the title, you need the best team and the best bike, and I believe that is what I am doing here. I believe in myself, I believe in this team, and I believe in Yamaha, so I am really happy about this opportunity. The team has just won the World Championship, so the goal is clear for 2027 – to help them retain it!”

Yamaha Motor Europe, Road Racing Sporting Manager Niccolo Canepa is looking forward to the 2027 season with their new signing. He added: “Jeremy’s performances over the final three rounds of the 2026 season were hugely impressive. He scored more points than any other rider between Cremona and Jerez, and with four victories from the final six races, he arrives in exceptional form. That made him an obvious choice for our WorldSSP programme in 2027. The AS BLU CRU Racing Team did a fantastic job throughout the 2026 season, and adding a rider of Jeremy’s calibre will make the team even stronger as it looks ahead to 2027. We are excited to get started.”
