Nicolo Bulega (Aruba.it Racing - Ducati) claimed pole position at the Circuito de Jerez - Angel Nieto, Andalucia and, with it, made more history. It was his 20th pole in the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship as he beat Sam Lowes (ELF Marc VDS Racing Team) by three tenths of a second in Tissot Superpole for the Pirelli Spanish Round. The #11’s teammate, Iker Lecuona, completed the top three.
THE FIRST RUN
On the first flying lap, Bulega immediately went almost half a second quicker than his rivals. The #11 set a 1’36.948s, 0.474s faster than Sam Lowes in second and teammate Iker Lecuona in third, with the Spanish star 0.544s down on his teammate. Most riders opted to go for just one flying lap in their first stint, although Yari Montella (Barni Spark Racing Team) went fourth quickest on his second effort.
HISTORY BOOKS RE-WRITTEN AGAIN
Bulega improved his time to a 1’36.643s in his second stint as he secured a third consecutive pole position at Jerez, and his 11th of the season. The #11 has tied Ben Spies’ record for poles in a single campaign from 2009, while Ducati have taken every pole throughout 2026, matching their record in 1992; on that occasion, they claimed 13 poles in 13 rounds. Sam Lowes put in a 1’36.960s – three quarters of a second faster than he went last year – to claim second place, ahead of Lecuona in third, with 0.455s separating the top three.
ALEX LOWES SECURES SECOND ROW START
Montella will line up from fourth after posting a 1’37.381s, while Alex Lowes (bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team) claimed fifth place with a 1’37.443s; exactly eight tenths slower than Bulega; it gives Montella another advantage as he looks to beat the #22 to third in the world standings, with the #5 heading to Jerez 53 points clear. Lorenzo Baldassarri (Team GoEleven) completed the top six with a 1’37.639s.
INSIDE THE TOP TEN
Tommy Bridewell (Superbike Advocates) bounced back from a tricky Estoril to claim seventh in Superpole after setting a 1’37.753s. Alberto Surra (Motocorsa Racing) headed to Jerez as one of the form riders, with four podiums across the last two rounds, but will line up from eighth place. Alvaro Bautista (Barni Spark Racing Team) completed the top nine with a 1’38.115s; only his third top-ten Superpole result of the season. Axel Bassani (bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team) completed the top ten.
